4 lbs Turnip greens
1 tbsp Butter
1 Minced red bell pepper
1 cup Minced yellow onion
1 Minced jalepeno pepper
3 cloves Minced garlic
2 boxes Chicken stock (unsalted)
1 tbsp Hot sauce
1 package Bacon, chopped

Turnip Greens Directions

    Prep

    1. Mince yellow onion
    2. Mince red bell pepper
    3. Mince garlic
    4. Chop bacon

    Cooking

    1. In a large pan, slowly render chopped bacon until all fat is rendered and bacon is crispy
    2. In a large pot, melt better
    3. Once melted, add minced onion, cook until translucent
    4. Add red bell pepper, jalapeno, cook until softened
    5. Add chopped bacon
    6. Add garlic, cook until fragrant
    7. Add chicken broth and hot sauce to taste
    8. Season with salt and pepper to taste
    9. Simmer until reduced slightly and flavor is intensified, stock should taste good enough to eat on its own
    10. Add turnip greens, gently fold until turnip greens are wilted
    11. Simmer uncovered on low heat, stirring occasionally
    12. Add a splash or two of bacon grease
    13. Cook until greens are softened
  1. TIP: Chicken stock concentrate can be used to add additional flavor while cooking the turnip greens
